Handcrafted wine from vine to bottle

In our winery we use the latest in European wine making equipment while maintaining traditional winery production methods. Our hands-on approach to viticulture, along with, bunch selection at harvest time, berry selection prior to de-stemming and crushing, hand plunging during fermentation, and the use of traditional French oak barrels for storage all help to ensure that we produce unique full-bodied Syrah with intense fruit and spice flavours.

The 2008 Reserve Syrah is crafted from low cropping Matakana vines that have yielded beautifully integrated flavours of dark fruit and chocolate, savoury and herbal notes with a touch of Smokey bacon and black pepper. This single Matakana vineyard wine was fermented in open-top fermenters and hand plunged every 6 hours. The finished wine was then matured in 75% new and 25% one-year old French barriques.

Showing a rich and complex nose the palate is well rounded with a fine texture. Finishing long with a slight drying after tone, this wine will improve in the bottle and while drinking well now will cellar for a least 3-5 years.
